Painted in low 40's temperature at Campfire Girls retreat, Camp El Tesoro, near Granbury, Texas. The retreat was opened to visitors (and painters) the 2nd Saturday in February. More than a dozen painters braved the freezing temperatures and brisk 20mph wind from the north in an effort to capture Fall Creek, a tributary of the Brazos River. It appears that I'm standing directly in the middle of the creek, but as is my custom, I "altered" the composition somewhat from my actual view. There wasn't much color - being in the middle of February - so I added some reds & yellows to the foliage along the bank. I'm anxious to return to this gorgeous location when the trees & flowers begin to bud out in the Spring - it should be spectacular!
